Where are you located?
The High Performance Centre (HPC) is located at Casuarina on the wave rich coastline of Northern NSW.
Our street address is 9 Barclay Drive, Casuarina NSW 2487 - find us here.
What time does coaching start and finish each day?
Coaching days start at 7.30am and finish at 3.30pm - these times may vary slightly based on surf conditions.
We operate on NSW time which is 1 hour ahead of QLD time during daylight saving time (October to April).
Am I a good enough surfer?
Our coaching programs cater for a wide range of ability levels but we do have certain requirements for surfers to join our scheduled surf camps. You should feel comfortable that you meet each of the below criteria:
- Competent swimming ability and ocean awareness
- Ability to paddle out the back unassisted in 3 - 4ft surf
- Competent duck diving ability
- Riding fibreglass shortboards
- Starting to attempt turns
- 1 - 2 years’ experience
If you do not meet these requirements, we can still potentially arrange private coaching which can be more tailored to your level.
How many surfers are in a camp?
We limit adult groups to a maximum of 5 surfers per coach.
When we have multiple camps running, we occasionally combine groups when coaches feel it's required due to conditions.
Grom and micro grom camps are maximum 12 surfers but with 2 coaches.
Where will we surf?
Our coaches will always try to find the most suitable waves for coaching on the Tweed Coast - there are plenty of options for various wind and swell directions.
Sessions generally run at Cabarita or Kingscliff and occasionally Casuarina and Hastings Point.
We also have the option to travel to the Gold Coast when there is an easterly swell.
Do I need to bring my own surfboard?
We strongly recommend bringing at least 1 board so your coach can see what you normally ride at home - we can't guarantee we'll have a suitable board in our demo quiver.
What happens if there’s no surf?
We encourage surfers not to get too picky with the forecast - perfect waves aren't necessarily best for coaching.
If conditions are unsurfable, we are more than happy to issue you with a credit to reschedule for a future date.
What's included in each coaching day?
We want to get you the best waves on offer so coaching days revolve around surf conditions.
The below is a guide only:
- 07.30am - Meet & greet
- 07.45am - Warm-up
- 08.00am - Surfing session & video analysis

- 12.30pm - Skating session
- 01.30pm - Surfing session & video analysis
- 03.30pm - Day ends
What flights should I book for the camp?
We recommend arriving the day before the camp so you can get settled and be ready for a 7.30am start the next day.
Check-in for onsite accommodation is available between 2pm and 5pm Monday to Friday but we can cater for late arrivals using our after-hours check-in facility.
Departing flights from 5pm onwards will give you plenty of time to get back to the airport.
Do I have to pay the full amount up front?
All bookings outside 30 days can be confirmed with a 25% deposit via our website.
The balance can be paid at any time in the lead up and must be paid in full prior to arrival.
Can you pick me up from the airport?
Yes, we offer transfers for the Gold Coast airport at $70 each way which includes a driver waiting with a sign at the arrivals area.
Brisbane transfers can be arranged on request.
Can I send my son or daughter to a camp on their own?
For surfers aged 12-17, definitely. We can arrange everything including return airport transfers, onsite accommodation and meals.
We have onsite chaperones who supervise all U/18 surfers after the coaching staff finish at 3.30pm each day - all chaperones have completed a Working With Children Check and Senior First Aid.
We can only offer onsite accommodation for U/12 surfers if they are accompanied by a parent.
Can I start my own camp?
Yes, if you have a group of 3 or more surfers we can create your own private camp on dates that suit you.
Pricing for all private camp options can be found here.
