Am I a good enough surfer?
Our programs cater for a wide range of ability levels but we do have certain requirements for surfers to join camps. You should feel comfortable that you meet each of the below criteria:
- Competent swimming ability and ocean awareness
- Ability to paddle out the back unassisted in 3 - 4ft surf
- Competent duck diving ability
- Riding fibreglass shortboards (7ft or shorter)
- Starting to attempt turns
- 2 - 3 years’ experience
If you do not meet these requirements then we can arrange private coaching so we can tailor a program to your level.
What happens if there’s no surf?
We can reschedule or organise a refund but this is very rare because of the countless surf spots between the Tweed and Gold Coast.
Do I need to bring my own surfboard?
We recommend bringing one or two boards so your coach can see what you normally ride and make suggestions.
We have the demo quiver of 35 surfboards available if you need/want to try something different.
What’s included in a standard day at the HPC?
A standard day includes all of the below:
- 2 x surfing sessions with video analysis (dependant on conditions)
- 1 x skate session
- 35 surfboard demo quiver and review of your equipment
Do I have to pay for the whole camp up front?
You can pay a 25% deposit online to confirm your booking in a camp.
The balance can be paid at a future date but it must be paid in full prior to your arrival at the camp.
Can you pick me up from the airport?
Yes, we offer return transfers to the Gold Coast Airport.
Can my grom stay at the centre?
Yes, we have an onsite chaperone who supervises all U/18 surfers after the coaching staff have left for the day.
All of our chaperones have completed a Working With Children Check.
Can I come to the camp with my grom?
Parents are welcome to sit in on coaching sessions but they must respect the coaching staff at all times and not interfere with the session in any way.
Can I start my own camp?
Yes, if you have a group of 4 or more surfers we can create your own private camp on dates that suit you.
Give us a call on (02) 6671 0000 to check availability.
Where will we surf?
Our coaches will always try to find the most suitable waves for coaching on the Tweed Coast - Casuarina (out the front), Kingscliff and Cabarita are our first options.
If it's too big, we can also travel to the Gold Coast where the point breaks offer more protected options.
